What This Strategy Does

Position the fund as a long-term satellite allocation for investors seeking diversification beyond Indian equities, with the ability to participate in structural growth opportunities across global emerging markets. The strategy is better suited to investors who can tolerate higher market, currency and geopolitical volatility and have a sufficiently long investment horizon to allow its bottom-up, fundamental stock-selection approach to play out.

Detailed Risks

Emerging-Market & Geopolitical Risk

The strategy is exposed to political, regulatory, currency and market risks across multiple emerging economies. Changes in government policy, capital controls, geopolitical tensions or local market regulations can materially affect portfolio companies and valuations. Emerging-market investments generally carry risks beyond those associated with more developed markets.

Strategy Details

A closer look at the investment thesis, portfolio construction, and current holdings.

Core Investment Theme

Core Investment Theme

The central theme is owning high quality EM franchises where long term business value is stronger than what current market pricing reflects. WhiteOak looks for companies with sustainable competitive advantages, superior incremental returns on capital, scalable end markets and aligned management, while requiring a meaningful discount to intrinsic value before investing.

Broader Market View

Emerging Markets Beyond India

The strategy is positioned to capture structural growth across emerging economies outside India, including markets where technology, manufacturing, consumption and financial-sector development can create long-duration investment opportunities.

Diversification Across Economic Cycles

Excluding India is important to the portfolio construction proposition: it provides exposure to different economic cycles, currencies, policy environments and corporate ecosystems, making the strategy more relevant as a geographic diversification allocation rather than another India-equity product.

Investment Style & Process

Bottom-Up & Style Agnostic

WhiteOak categorises the strategy as bottom-up and style agnostic, allowing the portfolio to invest across different types of companies rather than being restricted to a fixed growth, value or quality style.

Long-Only Multi-Cap Exposure

The strategy is long-only and operates across market capitalisations, allowing the investment team to select companies based on their underlying business opportunity rather than market-cap classification. The stated indicative portfolio range is 100–250 holdings for the Ex-India strategy.
