Portfolio Analysis
Review current equity holdings to identify capitalization overlaps across mid-cap funds.
Mid-cap funds invest in companies ranked 101st to 250th by market capitalisation, and small-cap funds in those ranked below 250. SEBI sets those definitions, so the category label tells you the size band a fund must stay within, not how the manager behaves inside it. Two mid-cap funds can hold very different businesses and still share the same label. These categories tend to fall harder than large-cap funds and take longer to recover, which is why the holding period matters more than the entry point. Cambridge Wealth provides scheme information across mid-cap and small-cap funds and reviews the holdings already present in your portfolio.

SEBI defines mid-cap as companies ranked 101 to 250 by market capitalisation, and small-cap as those below 250. A fund in either category must keep most of its assets in that band. What the label does not fix is which businesses the manager holds or how concentrated the book becomes. One mid-cap fund may hold 40 stocks, another 70, with very different sector weights. Investors often hold several such funds and assume the risk is spread, when the same names can appear across all of them. Cambridge Wealth reviews the underlying holdings across your folios to identify that overlap, applying a documented 108-point research framework to the schemes in its reviewed universe. The result is a factual record of what the mid-cap and small-cap portion of your portfolio actually holds.

SEBI ranks listed companies by market capitalisation: 1 to 100 is large-cap, 101 to 250 is mid-cap, and below 250 is small-cap. A mid-cap fund must keep at least 65% of its assets in that band. The label defines the size range, not the manager's style within it.
